How to use this activity

  1. Find something in common

Favorite color? Favorite superhero? Our Friendship Scavenger Hunt gives kids a fun reason to ask questions, listen, and learn about each other.

This printable is designed for ages 4–8 in a group of six or more children. Print one play sheet per child and offer pencils or crayons. A grown-up can help with reading and writing names. Children ask different people the questions and look for shared favorites.

  2. What can I say?

Joining a game can feel a little scary. Practice together before your child gives it a try. You can pretend to be the child who’s already playing, then switch roles.

    “Hi! What are you playing?”

“That looks fun. Can I join?”

“Do you want to play with me?”

Let your child pick the words they want to use. If someone says no, it’s okay to feel disappointed. Talk it through, then help them find someone else to play with or another activity to try.

  3. A little encouragement goes a long way

“You asked if you could join. That took courage!”

Notice when your child says hello, listens, or invites someone to play. Later, ask, “What did you learn about your new friend?”
